At six years old, Samuel Hasselhorn couldn't sing a note; all he could manage was a hum. But later, he made it into the children's choir. The hummer grew into a seasoned baritone, living the dream of many singers: Hasselhorn became a permanent member of the Vienna State Opera ensemble. He remained there until 2020, when he left, because the constant rehearsals and the relentless demands of performing opera roles left him with no time for his second great love: art song. Now the baritone pursues both, receiving acclaim for his performances as Wolfram in Wagner's Tannhäuser as well as for Schubert lieder.

Our new CD "Urlicht - songs of death and resurrection" won both the CD of the month award of the German magazine 'Opernwelt' and the French 'Forumopera'!

Samuel is looking forward to be making some exciting role debuts in the season 24/25 such as Eugene Onegin and Papageno (Die Zauberflöte) at Staatstheater Nürnberg, as well as  Barbier Schneidebart (Die schweigsame Frau) at Staatsoper Berlin under Christian Thielemann. He will also revisit Wolfram von Eschenbach(Tannhäuser) at Deutsche Oper Berlin and Conte Almaviva (Le nozze di Figaro) at Staatstheater Nürnberg.

I am happy to share that our first album of the Schubert 200 project, "Die Schöne Müllerin" has just won the prestigious Diapason d'Or de l'Année prize in France. This is the most important music prize in France and we are happy about this great start of our project.
